I've heard great things about this place and would love to try it. My main issue at this point is their availability. They don't have a their hours or phone number on yelp. They don't have a website. They don't have their own Facebook. They are not available in google maps. And they don't have an answering machine which lists their hours or other information for when they are closed. Hopefully I can update this to four or five stars once I get a chance to try it.

I wish I didn't live an hour away otherwise my family would be regulars. We were vising family in the area and went for dinner WOW! I couldn't believe the freshness of the food it wasn't just your ordinary restaurant. They offered a children's menu with just the right portions and prices were very reasonable. The server was very attentive and polite always had a smile. Why can't there be more restaurants like this?

DELICIOUS and reasonable food! Vieira Con Coco Y Lima, and Camarones Bailarines was PHENOMINAL, recommended by our server, Tommy was perfect. The chips explained by type, we're also great. ( I recommended they bag em!) Such a great staff, knowledgeable, respectful, courteous, and a pleasure. First time visit.... I WILL BE BACK!

I am so glad I had yelp to help me find this place. It is small, but not too small and the food is amazing! Small menu, which means it will be good food and made with thought. Dessert we had canoli and tres leches, amazing! Their red snapper entree was to die for and for the price, i'd say you pay well for good quality. I brought my family and now we say we found a new favorite. We all loved it!! Can't wait to come back.

This place is fantastic!! The food was delicious, service was great, what more can you ask for! Only gave it 4 stars because parking not so good.

Absolutely delicious!! My son asked if we were downtown because it's delectable! The drinks were wonderful, our party tried 4 different types. We had the Coco Loco, Pomegranite Passion, Monkey La La & Palomita! Great! This is on par with Havana, Xoco, Cafe Iberico...free parking & good prices!! We had Pan seared scallops, empanadas, Nacatmal,Tilapia, lamb shank, Estofado, ceviche & it was all delicious! There's even a kids menu for the youngest! You've got to try it, there been open a while now & they are up & rolling!

Wow! Unbelievable food. But not cheap. We'd definitely go again. 2 of us with minimal leftovers = $74 not including tip. But the food was fresh and flavorful!

I feel like more people should know about this place. We went and it was dead, though we went at that weird witching hour between lunch and dinner, so that could have been it. We had the nicest and most attentive waiter. He made recommendations and was really enthusiastic about the menu. He never steered us wrong. We loved the "chips" he brought, and he gave us a refill without us even having to ask - they make beets taste heavenly, and I hate beets.

Authentic 'Latin'cuisine. 1st time visit and there was a bridal shower going on. Group of about 20. Quiet group. Separate dining rooms helps. Had the seafood soup and the wife had the lamb shank. Plenty of food. A bit salty but good. The entree price was about 25% more than I felt was fair for what you got. Tiny seafood ingredients don't appeal to my taste. It's like baby food. Service was good. No complaints with that. IMHO the best part was the appetizer enchiladas made with ground meat and seafood. Have a couple of those and call it a meal.

Get here now before it becomes a local go-to place in Tinley Park. The atmosphere, food, and service speaks for itself. Go in and check it out yourself!

Tonight my friend Melanie and I went at 11pm for drinks (coco loco). That is one amazing beverage. Not only was the bar immaculate but the bartenders were super friendly and very accommodating. It is so nice to have a place in Tinley Park that isn't trying to appeal to the 21-26 demographic. super classy and excellent prices. Whatever you do, order their chips. They are amazing.

GROSS! What the hell am I eating? The food is bad. The bar is good though. Kinda different than the Teehans regulars and the drunks at Holsteins. Skip the food, have a drink.

I met a group of friends here and not one person was happy with their dinner. A few of my friends thought their dinner came out over cooked. I was not very hungry, so I ordered a tapas. I got exactly 3 shrimp. This is the first time I have ever left a restaurant hungry! Apparently a tapas is half the size of an appetizer but the same price?? The service for a large group was disorganized as well. A member of my party asked for the check and we waited another 25 minutes. Drinks seemed watered down.

A new place in Tinley Park - yeah! The menu is interesting and creative - not the same burgers and pizza that are all so common. The Latin food is not spivey unless you want it to be. The quality of the food is excellent and the servers and staff are very friendly. If you haven't stopped by - do so - you will like it!

We went to el coco mio on Thursday for dinner. What an awesome experience. The food was phenomenal and the service was great. Our servers name was ginger and since we had never been there before she recommended a few dishes for us to try. Based on her recommendations we tried the shrimp and the ox tail. Both were delicious. This was definitely the right choice and we will be coming back.

This place was off the chain! The drinks were legendary and the food some of the best I have ever had! We sat out side and it was fantastic the patio provided a great view of the train station and park was near perfect outside. The menu was divers and interesting I would highly recommend

Two star fare, but an extra star for Ginger's amazing service and some refreshing Sangria. I've had Tapas at Cafe Babareeba-ba -bop-bam-boom and so the bar for expectation was set a bit high. I'd snagged an $80 Groupon, but wish I'd checked the menu prior to purchase. . So much veal and extremely limited seafood and chicken dishes was disappointing as I don't eat veal. The Chile Relleno, the Empanadas..dish after dish stuffed with veal. Gah! I wanted gooey cheese options...just more variety in both tapas and plates in general. Ginger was a doll and really elevated the experience. Props to her for her cheery disposition and knowledge of the dishes. .Alas, the bar itself seemed cavernous and the carpet has certainly seen better days. For an early dinner it was very dark in the restaurant with no table lights to amp up the ambience. I enjoyed the roomy, comfy booths, Sangria, Pico and my salad, but the rest seemed overpriced and lacked for presentation. The guac here is extremely tart and they do not have sour cream. My Baltic blood requires sour cream with nearly every dish; our family crest is just a pan of Kugelis and Sam Breakstone shouting "Not thick enough!" But, I digress... Look, I'm no expert on Latin food and I wish them my best, but mini pizzas and barely-beefy Taquitos smothered in dry slaw just don't cry fine Latin dining to me. While I don't regret my visit, I wouldn't make the journey here again. I simply felt like I was dining in a spruced -up bar in Tinley, rather than whisked away to a beloved, scrumptious Latin paradise. Ay!

Overall great time. I thought food was good but a tad pricey. Drinks were very high prob best to go on 1/2 drink night . Had the special soup of the day- tortilla soup . It was decent but lacked some flavor. It was also red hot - that I could barely eat it (temp wise). The margarita said it had peach in it but I didn't taste any. For 9.00 I didn't think it was worth it - flavor wise. Tapas is prob your best bet when coming here. We did the shrimp and the ravioli - I highly recommend. The shrimp was my favorite. My brother did the bistek - the meat was flavorless but the sauce was good. The chips and pico you get free was awesome. Probably the highlight. I would go back but stick with tapas only and on half price drink night.

Great food!!! Cool Decor , Clean Bathrooms, Large Indoor Seating With Stylish Decor, Outdoor Seating with great views, Nice Latin music in & outside, Nice Modern Bar ( with cool Ambiance), Tommy waited on us. " Great Job " , Good parking, Will dine here again!!

Very, very, very good! I'm not sure what some of the lesser reviewers were looking for, but my group was blown away with the freshest, carefully prepared, creatively balanced tapas ever. The tapas portions are very nice sized. 4 of us shared 8 tapas and each was better that the previous. Fresh, fresh and balanced flavor profiles. Roomy place with indoor & outdoor seating. Clean, inviting with great service and just exceptional food. This meal put Emilio's and Meson Sabika off my top 5 list. Home made root veg chips and pico & fresh salsa, great drinks, super service, I could go on & on. Don't let any nay-Sayers put you off trying El Coco Mio - stop in and YOU decide - you won't be disappointed.

Really a 3.5 star review, with potential. I'm heading back here in a few weeks with a large group, so I'm giving them the benefit of that extra star. This is a newish (6-months) old restaurant that took over the space where Bogarts (and a few other places, I think) used to reside. It is a huge pace. The bar area is a pretty nice set up with a u shape bar and couches and some tables. I would for sure come back here for a drink or three. I was meeting a friend and arrived about 30 minutes early and grabbed a seat at the bar and was greeted warmly. I was the only one in the bar area, but it was only 5:15. They have a pretty large cocktail menu, but I stuck with sangria. I'd say it was average, but at $5 a glass, I made it my drink of the night. It is good to note that they have $5 sangria, margaritas, and mojitos on Mondays-Tuesdays-Wednesdays!. My friend arrived, she got the margarita and enjoyed it. We moved to a table in the large dining area. We were in the restaurant about 2-hours and maybe 4 other tables showed up. So, not very busy at all. Maybe because it was Tuesday?? One of the great things they do is bring out this basket of tortilla chips and 2 different salsas. But, the chips are not tortillas, they are beets, and a few other root vegetables, deep fried. They are served with a pico and a hotter salsa. All of this was FAB-U-LOUS. Really, so good. We decided to order 4 tapas to start with, and then more if we were still hungry. However, after the chips, 4 was enough. We went with the Taquitos, Coco's Pizza, the Arepa, and pan seared scallops. All were good, the scallops were my favorite. Nothing was greasy at all (like other reviews said). Portions were decent - enough for 2 to split. Service was very friendly, though a tad bit slow, but we weren't in a hurry. I am a little worried about my future large-group dinner that I am planning and service. Our server for this night was also the bartender. Overall, a nice addition to the Oak Park strip in Tinley. I am excited to come back and try a few more cocktails and sample the rest of the menu.

What a great place! I ordered cheese and beans pupusas. They were prepared perfectly! I wish this restaurant was in Chicago. The owners are very friendly people which is always a plus.

Was racking my brain for someplace to go and remembered about the new place in town, well let me tell you, it's rare for me that a restaurant hits on all cylinders, but this place did it.started with a great rum coconut drink, good sized. And then complimentary plantain chips with green salsa and pico de gallo. Then had a LARGE bowl of polenta soup with grilled chicken and carmilized onion for $4 then I had the braised lamb shank with plantain and yucca root. Just right, fell off the bone. I'm guessing the bad reviews are from opening glitches. I'll be back.

My mom and I went a couple of weeks ago and grant it, we only did appetizers and dessert (we were going for the "tapas thing") but it was great! We went on a Friday night and the place was pretty much empty, I'm not sure why because everything we had was fantastic. The waiter was very attentive (not annoyingly attentive) and his suggestions were all terrific. Starting out the Red Sangria, it was fresh, full of fruit, and delicious. We ordered 3 appetizers: Ceviche D Mar, I never had ceviche before and I think this was a great place to try it. Very good. Camarones Bailarines, also very good, my mom actually asked me if I would be embarrassed if she licked the plate! LOL! I told her to go ahead, I didn't blame her :) Cocos Taquitos, these were good. Nothing spectacular but the plate was clean when we were done. On to dessert, we ordered the Tres Leches Cake and the Cannoli. Once again, no complaints. Both very good. I would definitely go back and I would love to try some of their main dishes. I know it is "latin food", please excuse my ignorance but, that falls into "mexican food" for me and I would recommend that if you want some "fancy mexican food" this would be a great place to go. Even the chips are homemade and not your typical corn tortilla chips. Everything was fresh and delicious!

Been here a couple of times, both very satisfactory. We went Tapas style and the second time was a large group (out side -- people watching!) I think I have tasted nearly everything on the menu. Everything is very good and while some things might be strange to your palette -- Believe me once the introduction is made, your tongue will love you for it... The one negative could be considered good or bad -- Both times there were things on the menu that they did not have (ran out - no delivery).. Bad for us but good in that they get very authentic ingredients but cant always source them...

Let it be known that I love love love to support a non-franchise restaurant in my neighborhood. This is a playful take on tapas because they are serving dishes from all of Latin American. And are they successful? You betcha (crap, did I just sound like Sara Palin?) I only sampled a few dishes, the ceviche which was great, served up with home fried root chips. The salsa was garden fresh and pretty spicy. For dinner my wife and I shared the Bistek and it was great. They took over the old Bogarts, so I think the place may be a bit too large for them, until the word gets out and it'll be a great destination for big parties and gatherings. Did I mention that they have a pretty large bar in there too?

I've been here a few times and really enjoyed my experiences! I recommend coming here for dinner over lunch though. The food tasted slightly better (or maybe I was just more hungry at dinner) and there is more going on in the restaurant itself during dinner hours. Also they had way more staff during dinner, which made the service quicker. Everything on the menu is pretty tasty. I've tried the following: Tapas: 1) Ceviche de Mar- good! I wasnt expecting the chips it came with. But it was still good. Would order again. 2) Calamares- good! I love calamares in general, so I was a huge fan of it and the sauce it came with! Would order again. 3) Chorizo Ravioli- good but probably wouldn't order it again. Platos Principals: 1) Lamb Shank- This was probably the best item on the menu I've tried so far! So delicious! The lamb literally melts in your mouth! The meat has such a wonderful flavor and is just so tender. HIGHLY recommend this. 2) Oxtail- The flavor is very similar to the lamb shank but the meat is a little more fatty. I've never had oxtail before, so it was interesting to try. But I probably wouldn't order it for myself in the future. 3) Estafado- Very good! I didn't expect the potatoes and chorizo to be pureed and within the beef. But I still enjoyed it. When I ate my left overs the next day I thought it tasted even better! 4) Red snapper- I personally did not try it. But multiple people in our group loved it. 5) Rib eye- I wasnt a huge fan of it. I think it was a little overcooked and kind of burned. Overall, this place is a gem for the south suburbs!

We have been here many times. We love the food! We have had the tapas and main entrees both were delicious. The service is friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is not too loud which I also like. The bar has nice leather couches and big TVs with DJ on certain days in weekend. I recommend getting a Coco Loco drink which is made using a fresh coconut and served in it as well. Yum. Try it out.

The octopus salad was delicious. Octopus was cooked perfectly and tender, NOT rubbery. All of the food was fantastic and perfectly portioned. The best part was the basket of root chips with delicious salsas. Will be back for sure.

The food was delicious! Real authentic food. The restaurant is nicely decorated. It would be nice if they brought live music or DJ to match the food. Spanish music would be a plus..

Watched a episode of restaurant impossible that featured a Latin restaurant, so my wife and I decided to hit up this place for the first time. Still kinda dark inside just like the previous restaurant bogarts. Server was really nice but she could've came by a little more often. Pico de gallo was very flavorful and salsa was decent. I had the pernil asado which was pretty good. The slaw that came with it was good but the flavor was a bit overwhelming. I thought the menu was a bit pricey but maybe I'm just a cheap ass. On Sunday's, kids under 10 eat free with the purchase of 2 dinners. On the way out i discovered my server didn't visit much cuz she was working the bar also.

Top notch Latin food, super high quality. Don't expect a Mexican restaurant with tacos and burritos. The food is gourmet and fresh representing tastes from Latin America. Load up on small plates (tapas) to share or grab a main course, excellent drinks and have a night cap in the lounge for some funky Latin lounge music.

Awesome meal! Service was attentive, drinks were terrific. To start the pico de gallo with Mango and veggie chips was fresh and refreshing. I had the Red Snapper and would definitely order that again. My friend and I split the scallops appetizer, another big hit. If you like Latin food with different flavors, this is a place you should definitely try.

Sat on the patio Saturday night, it started to rain and we didn't even get wet! Three of us had drinks and several tapas plates. All the plates had generous portions, all were delicious - very inventive flavors - and perfectly prepared. The large complimentary chips and pico were fresh and really, really good. Our server was very friendly and efficient! I'll be back!

We were very excited to see a Latin place in Tinley Park with good Yelp reviews, but were disappointed by almost every aspect of our first visit. I'm guessing many of these 5 star reviews are from family or friends. Our experience... Decor: Very plain and uninspired. A few colored napkins do not make the place lively. Drinks: Ordered the Pomegranate Passion and a Traditional Mojito. Both were disappointing. The Mojito wasn't muddled at all and was way to sweet, and the Passion was bland and watery. Skip the drinks and grab a cerveza. Food: Ordered tapas. Portions were large for tapas which are generally very small servings. Chicken wings were good...really liked the crunchy peanuts on top. Taquitos looked delightful upon presentation, but tasted oily. The pico de gallo had too much cumin, and the corn masa was bland. We didn't try any entrees. Service: Even though there were only two other couples in the restaurant, it took our waitress an exceptionally long time to greet us. She didn't seem knowledgeable about the menu, or explain anything she brought to the table. Overall, we don't expect to return here any time soon.

I want this place to be successful but they really have to get things right. It's such a unique and one-of-a-kind spot in this area. Friday night dinner, restaurant was empty. Service was okay, but not very timely. Salsa and chips great but why only 2 tbsp of salsa? Your salsa is amazing so I'd like to have more than a drop on my chip. Polenta and chicken soup (which I get each time) not good. Super hot - microwaved. Soup was a day or two old as they tried to bring it back to life for me. Clumps of polenta and 1 piece dark meat that was not chicken. In fact, it had no chicken. It was just very greasy and not fresh. Oxtail was outstanding. They substituted an overcooked Asian vegetable for the vegetable that was to be in my plate. Pork is always tough. All in all, you taste their food and fall in love with the flavor combinations but the food takes forever and ever and ever to cook. Waitstaff disappear for too long. Set-up is still odd with two entrances. On one end, no one is there to greet you... On the other end, people are unprofessionaly sitting down on the job. Wish timing was better and staff was better.

We have visited this restaurant twice in 1 month. We have tried many of the tapas & entrees. We were very happy with all the food. The staff is friendly but not over bearing. The snapper & Estofado was to die for. Try the Calamari & shrimp appetizer. The octopus salad was out of this world. We will be back. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The coconut shrimp is really good and is served with a pickled jalapeño tarter sauce. My traditional margarita was off. It was my first drink of the night and it seemed weak. We also ordered the coco mio pizza. It wasn't even the size of a dinner plate and came in at $9. Very disappointing. Our bartender was kind and the place is clean and well decorated.

I was more than pleasantly surprised by the freshness, quality, and flavor packed dishes that I highly recommend dining here. As for someone who has had Ceviche when in South America, the Ceviche is comparable if not better. Every bite was flavorful. It is absolutely refreshing to see an establishment as this as opposed to the typical south suburban restaurants. Bravo.

I was very excited for El Coco Mio to open. In fact, I went the very first week it opened. I've since been a few times and I've been underwhelmed each time. I'm hoping they are just going through some growing pains and will be as great as their sister property, Isabella's. The food is average and the drinks are tasty, but weak. The dinning area could also use some improvement. It's a large space and still feels like a converted steak house.

We've dined here twice. The first experience was fabulous, made so because our waiter took time to engage us and to recommend and describe dishes. We enjoyed every bite of the things we ordered. (Two small plates, two full dinners, in case you were wondering.) He was a consummate professional and explained everything (without being overbearing) from the chips and salsa to options for dessert. The second visit was okay, not great. Our waitress did little more than take our orders and drop plates in front of us. I'm not looking for a new best friend when I go out to eat, but service professionals who enjoy their job make the dining experience so much better. I swear it makes the food taste better, too. Our second-visit-waitress's efforts were lacking. I want this place to succeed, to thrive. I think their intentions are very good. I agree that the seating setup is a little awkward. And it's true, too, that the decor is only so-so. That can all be overlooked if the food is great and the service exceptional. We will give this place another try or two, at least. As I said, we really want it to succeed. I'm hopeful that in time El Coco Mio finds more service staffers like our first guy and is able to keep them.

Me and my husband had a great dinner! The best place ever! Very delicious food! I am not a big fan of latin food, but that place surprised me with extra delicious menu! Very nice quite familiar restaurant and pretty bar at night. Reasonable prices and so nice service! I will definitely come back!

Went for dinner a couple of nights ago. We ordered the plantain tapas which was good. I had a stuffed beef tenderloin (stuffed with chorizo and potatoes) which was very good. Had the coconut tiramisu for dessert which also was good. Overall, the food was good...the rice and beans could have had a little more flavor but overall the experience was very good. I also like the atmosphere of the place and the service was pleasant and attentive. Prices were pretty much what I expected for the meal.

Delicious ! We ordered a bunch of tapas to share and they were very tasty. But now I know I want to go back for the scallops and the shrimp because the taste was not enough ! The atmosphere was very nice. We had a group of eight and were at a long table but it was nice because we could all hear and enjoy each others conversations. Prices were good and I liked that we ordered tapas and shared. We left full and it wasn't overpriced. I don't like when the portions are so huge and exspensive and I come home with too much food. Our waiter was knowledgeable and helpful with the menu. Definitely going back!

Went to celebrate my birthday with my friends. We went on a Saturday around noon. We were one of the only tables and there were a few people at the bar. Our table was ready for us and we were greeted by our waitress who took our drink order and spent time with us giving her opinion on all the delicious tropical drinks. I chose the palomita which was great as was the island punch. We decided to order a bunch of tapas and our waitress once again took the time to explain and give her opinion. Our food came out pretty quick and was delicious. I ordered the ceviche which was incredible and the cocos pizza without chorizo which was also fabulous. My friends ordered the empanadas, seafood enchiladas, and taquitos all of which they said were fabulous. By the time we left there were alot more people which was good to see. Definitely want to come with my husband on a date night!

Very very pleased with our first time here. Absolutely loved the root chips which sound hideous but are delicious and the salsa is out of this world. Side dishes of black beans and rice are yummy, plaintains are good and I was not sure I would like those, Cole slaw good and a very different flavor than I expected! I had the stuffed red snapper and would recommend it. My husband had the estofado which he loved. we're happy we finally tried this restaurant and are looking forward to going back and taking out of town visitors here.

The food and drinks were very good; especially the drinks. This restaurant has the potential to be very good. But the service is extremely poor. Our waiter was so so nice, but he was so overwhelmed by the number of tables he had that it would have been near impossible to address his customer's needs. We sat several times waiting for him to ask us for another round of cocktails, and even longer to receive them. We actually waited a long time before he even came to the table once we were seated. Management needs to beef up on your wait staff. The vibe of a tapas/small plates/big plates restaurant requires a very attentive waitperson. Enjoying drinks for a big party and ordering lots of plates is what this restaurant is supposed to be about. You want someone constantly checking to see if you need to order more food. The salsa and chips were great, but extremely skimpy. And we were never asked if we wanted refills while waiting for cocktails and our main courses. We ordered several plates for sharing, and a couple entrees, and most of it was delicious. Would love to plan another big party here with friends, but am reluctant to do so until I am sure that the service issues are addressed.

HORRIFIC! If you want cold terrible food, bad service and a horrible experience, this is the place. Wait servers who do not know the menu calling arroz con guandules "orange rice..." ugh. Bistek which was rubbery - couldn't tear it apart. They call it beef stew - but what it really was - was a pepper steak (er, rubber pepper steak) Sides of rice that came 10 minutes after the main part of the meal nice and cold with barely two tablespoons of rice all next to each other with the black beans -- dry, instead of the soupy way they are supposed to come. Waiter telling us that they were out of pernil (or per nell - as he called it) 10-20 minutes after it was ordered. Kept having to ask over and over for extra utensils, water, drinks we ended up taking utensils and cloth napkins from an empty table. Only two other tables were busy in the whole place. We were at this restaurant months ago and they were not this bad. They are worse. We ordered the arepas appetizer and it came with ONE for a table of 5. ONE - which was terrible tasting. Never, ever, never EVER again. $180 wasted. Also - who puts TEQUILA in their pina coladas? Come on! This doesn't qualify as a simply latin restaurant - it is a Mexican restaurant trying to be Cuban or Puerto Rican which is a major failure and not well done. Perhaps they should consider visiting other latin restaurants in the north side and learning how dishes are really made instead of a sloppy mixed up lousy version of them. Shameful.

Went to El Coco Mio for the first time and was very impressed. The ceviche was delicious. Thinking about the scallops in coconut cream sauce is making my mouth water. The coco pizza was also very good. We had a very nice Malbec which was fairly priced. One suggestion is that it would be nice if there was a supply of clean plates on the table. We needed to ask for them. I will definitely be back.

This place is a total hidden gem. I've come out here to visit the local bars numerous times, but never noticed this place. Then one night someone exited the front door, and I was like, "what's this place"? I stopped in, and now I've been here at least 2 times a month. That was 6 months ago. Everything here is delicious. Service is perfect. The Margaronas are so good. Oxtail, the duck, the coco taquitos, chorizo ravioli...I could go on. Any time of the night or day is good to come here.

Just had our first experience at El Coco Mio and were not disappointed at all. The food was very nicely seasoned. Very generous tapas portions so we'll definitely be going back to try more of the menu. The scallops are melt in your mouth delish so make sure to try them. We had rice pudding and the almond mango torte for dessert and they were wonderful. Looking forward to our next visit!

Love this place - one of my favorites in Tinley Park. Have been here several times with various groups of people - group loved it every time. Overall, we've probably had over 20 different things on the menu (mostly tapas) and loved all but one (one fish entree was just ok). Lots of tasty drink options, bright decor & roomy with helpful service. Fortunately, the south suburbs are getting more dining options beyond your basic beef taco and ravioli with red sauce. This one hasn't quite caught on yet (not crowded the times we've been in). Give it a try - definitely worth the visit!

My husband and I have lived on northside for many years and recently relocated out south so we were super excited this Latin restaurant opened. I give them an A+ for effort and for having the cojones to open this restaurant in Tinley Park as it's not a diverse neighborhood. Their drink list looked amazing though I can't par take at this time. They do have aguas frescas so that was nice to see though the waiter did not know what Mora was and forgot to inquire. We started off with the pupusas which tasted great and authentic. For an entree, I had the estofado which was very good, but the black beans do need some kind of seasoning as they were way too plain, and the sweet plantain was not dark enough to be actually sweet. It was a weird cross between a tostone and sweet plantain and either they are to be one or the other. My husband had the pernil, the pork was very good though it had some red sauce on it--being presented as a puerto rican dish, we can do without that sauce on it. The pork can definitely stand alone on the plate as it's meant to be, the flavor was great. The arroz con gandules it came with was off, that needs work for sure. For dessert, we shared the mango torte which was very good. The wait staff: warmly greeted us at the entrance though the wait staff was a bit off. I have a feeling the wait staff has no idea what half of the food is on the menu unfortunately. Even when my husband ordered the pernil, the waiter wasn't sure what he was ordering so my husband pointed to the menu. Drinks, 1st my pop came out-no straw, then his wine a few minutes later and then 2 waters a little bit after that. There just needs to be a better flow I think. No offense, the general population in Tinley Park may think this place is fantastic and I really wanted it to be, but since they have only been open a week, I'm giving an honest review of a 3. When we do return hopefully I can give them a higher rating!

First clue we were in for a great time: Starter chips weren't ordinary tortilla, but some fascinating baked(?) chips. Fun starter. Four different tapas - fabulously creative. Very attentive service. And dessert? Both the coconut flan and coconut tiramisu were light, beautifully presented and flavor filled. We'll be going back until we've tried the whole menu. A week later and still thinking about the experience. Wow.

Was never a big fan of tapas, but this restaurant changed my mind. My wife and I ordered three items to share, all of which were fantastic. I have, and would, recommend this restaurant to everyone. Cocos pizza was a little on the spicy side, but I especially liked it. The Camarones Bailarines were both spicy and sweet-the combination was perfect. Enchiladas stuffed with scallops, shrimp, chorizo, again just wonderful. Go there....enjoy

As a fairly new resident of the area, it's been very difficult to find a truly authentic Latin restaurant that doesn't carry flour tortillas, have sour cream, lettuce and tomatoes as my topping options or try to sell me on some crunchy taco of some sort and pawn it off as legit Mexican/Latin food. When I saw the sign "coming soon" for El Coco Mio, I was excited to try it out when it finally opened. I paid them a visit on their grand opening week on a Friday evening followed by Saturday night. I am an honest foodie and well traveled around the globe and as a Latino myself growing on a household of homemade food and all types of Latino cuisine, I like to consider myself someone who has a good understanding and knowledge of Latin flavors and profiles. Unfortunately Coco Mio falls well short of what it wants to be. Let's me start with the atmosphere, for one the space inside is very spacious but dark, dingy and not welcoming or inspiring at all. It has a very confusing layout and split up into 3 or 4 separate areas and not cohesive nor a well played out floor-plan. You have a bar on the rear entrance of the restaurant that is tucked into the corner with what I guess is the lounge section next to it. There was a huge open flame grill that I was excited to see but no chef or grill master on site and later discovered was closed off and not in use at all. As you walk into the main dining area, it's broken out into 2-3 separate dining rooms divided by an exposed brick wall that runs right through the middle of the restaurant. The smaller room coming from the street entrance is the "Postres" dessert/cafe room I guess? Again very confusing layout that could of been better designed and more functional use of the spaces. Identity crisis in the happening. On to the most important stuff; the service and food. Let me state our waitress was very courteous and she was well versed on the menu offerings including been very attentive and kind throughout our dinner. That was about the only highlight of my dining experience at Coco Mio and do give the staff an A+ for their service and professionalism. My water was never less than half full, plates taken out at appropriate times and replaced with clean plates and utensils. The food on the other hand did not score well in my book. In fact it was bad if not average at best. We started off by ordering the Platano Relleno but then found out they didn't have any sweet plantains so we couldn't order it. What? It's the 1st week open and they don't have an item on a menu already, very disappointing to say the least. So we instead chose the Pupusas another Latin staple but the pork filling was dry and overcooked plus over seasoned by either cumin or salt or both. Speaking of cumin they must love this spice because the rest of our dinner entrees including their homemade pico de gallo, cole slaw mix and the sides such as black beans had so much of it, it killed my palate. They are really heavy handed and seem to add it to everything. They need to omit or control the cumin, as it's very overpowering. I ordered one of the most classic Latin dishes in the Pernil Asado and had so much cumin it ruined the taste in an otherwise tender and juicy pork. Which I question why couldn't my appetizer Pupusas pork have been this juicy? My fiance had the Tilapia en crema de coco which was overcooked and under seasoned and the coconut cream sauce had the texture of bad biscuits and gravy sauce gone bad. In other words a very inconsistent kitchen are the first thoughts that come to mind and who is running this kitchen? I think Coco Mio has an identity crisis that in one hand wants to be a fine Latin fusion dining experience that is not offered anywhere in the area, but is hampered by the flat and inconsistent food along with the poor atmosphere. When I think Latin food I envision bright, fun, rich colors and a high energy environment. It's not welcoming at all with no vibe or fun even on a weekend night. It's like walking into an old steak house that gave up on the interior design and the bar tender just made last call. I feel the restaurant is tailored more toward an American palate and for me is not what I would call authentic Latin. Perhaps the locals think this is great spot that brings back memories of a drunk spring break night in Cancun or because Elvis Crespo is in shuffle mode while sipping frozen Margaritas doesn't make it authentic. Granted it was their opening week during my visits, but there are no excuses to be out of a menu item or not carry something because it's not "in season". I wouldn't recommend this place at all unless you like bland uninspired Latin dishes with a sad atmosphere. Trust me folks I really wanted to like Coco Mio and hoping this could finally be the real deal Latin restaurant this area so desperately needs but instead we are left with another poor attempt and should be embarrassed they even call it a Latin cuisine or even a lounge for that matter.

Yum. Try it out.

DELICIOUS and reasonable food! Vieira Con Coco Y Lima, and Camarones Bailarines was PHENOMINAL, recommended by our server, Tommy was perfect. The chips explained by type, we're also great.

We have visited this restaurant twice in 1 month. We have tried many of the tapas & entrees. We were very happy with all the food. The staff is friendly but not over bearing.

This place was off the chain! The drinks were legendary and the food some of the best I have ever had! We sat out side and it was fantastic the patio provided a great view of the train station and park was near perfect outside. The menu was divers and interesting I would highly recommend
